Mr. Romano is a member of New Jersey State and Bergen County Bar Associations and National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. He is a member of the Elder Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Assocation. Mr. Romano has long been involved in the area of business law including commercial and residential real estate as well as partnership and corporate matters. He is counsel to various businesses and corporations throughout Northern New Jersey. Mr. Romano represents Passaic Beth Israel Hospital in Passaic as outside counsel with respect to guardianships and issues concerning Advance Directives. He is also counsel for Oakland Care Center and Collaborative Support Programs of New Jersey, as well as other nonprofit corporations established to assist consumers of mental health services. Mr. Romano provides presentations on health care law to the community through such diverse organizations as the American Cancer Society, Health Awareness Regional Program (HARP) of Hackensack Medical Center and the Elder Care Consultation and Referral Service. He has in the past provided classes to the general public with reference to Advance Directives and the right to die through the Adult Education Programs of Bergen Community College, Warren County College and Sussex County College. In addition, he assists various nursing homes and hospitals with the fulfillment of their obligations under “The New Jersey Advance Directives for Health Care Act” and the “The Patient Self Determination Act.” Mr. Romano is a past member of the Ethics Committee for the Home Health Assembly of New Jersey and has been influential in the Development of a model Ethics Committee to be implemented throughout New Jersey Home Health Care Agencies. He is also a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for Bergen Community Health Care, an affiliate of Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, New Jersey and the Ethics Committee of Valley Home Care, Inc. in Paramus, New Jersey. Mr. Romano has published in the area of Elder Law and Advance Directives and has been an author for the The New Jersey Trial Lawyer and the New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Romano, his wife, Patricia and daughter, Emily reside in Blairstown, New Jersey. updated 09/00 |
