PRINCETON AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RENEWS ITS SUPPORT OF WHF

$10,000 GRANT RECEIVED FROM PACF FUND FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS
ITS TEEN ESTEEM PROGRAM

Trenton, NJ- The Princeton Area Community Foundation recently contributed $10,000 to the Women's Heart Foundation (WHF) in support of its Teen Esteem program. The grant represents the 5th year of support in implementing this wellness and prevention program for vulnerable sophomore girls attending Trenton Central High School.

"We at the Women's Heart Foundation are very grateful to the PACF and the Fund for Women and Girls. These vulnerable teen girls are subjected to many challenges each and every day. They need our support and encouragement. They need to have a chance at having a successful future. This program helps girls feel good about themselves and remain in school to graduate" said Bonnie Arkus, Exec Director.

The Teen Esteem program was started in 2003 with $70,000 in seed money provided by the former New Jersey Office on Women's Health. The program represents a public-private-nonprofit collaboration and is co-managed by the WHF. In September 2009, the program entered its 6th year. Teen Esteem is instituted as an elective gym-alternative class.
